Scenario:

• The user wants to update SoftXpand to the latest version released, and therefore wants to remove the installed version of SoftXpand, and re-install the downloaded setup file.
• The user stated going through the How to upgrade SoftXpand proccess and came across the following symptoms.

Symptoms:

After removal of the program, running the setup file gives the following message:

Clicking OK seems to work, but after restarting the computer and trying to run the setup file again, the message reappears as if SoftXpand is still installed.

Cause:

The cause is an incomplete Windows XP and SoftXpand uninstall process. The user is unable to completely remove SoftXpand through the Control panel>Add or Remove Programs. Running the SoftXpand setup.exe file, results in the program trying to remove itself again.

Workaround:
The workaround in this case is a manual removal of the remaining SoftXpand files, prior to installation of the new version.

There are two possible workarounds for solving this known issue, the first is:

1. Download the following batch file from here.
2. Save file to desktop.
3. Choose "Y" to remove the files completely.
   
   

Another possible workaround is to manually remove SoftXpand from certain locations on your computer. To manually remove SoftXpand go through the following steps:

1. Exit SoftXpand, click Start>Run, in the command line write cmd. The prompt window opens, copy the following command and paste:

"reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\{68B625D1-6AC6-4548-8570-C2FB78B320EB} /f /ve /va"

2. Next, copy & paste the following:

"reg delete HKLM \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{68B625D1-6AC6-4548-8570-C2FB78B320EB} /f /ve /va"

3. Next, exit all sub directories until reaching "C:\>" and then copy & paste the following in the command line:

"cd C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{68B625D1-6AC6-4548-8570-C2FB78B320EB} del *.*"

4. The next step is to copy & paste the following to the command line:

"sc delete MfVdFrbf"

5. Now restart your computer, SoftXpand has been completely removed, download the latest version of SoftXpand and Install it on your computer.
