NVIDIA and **ATI video cards are most compatible with SoftXpand and are recommended by MiniFrame.
SoftXpand Native video mode driver achieves maximum performance with all NVIDIA / ATI dual head and single head video cards.
SoftXpand works better with advanced NVIDIA / ATI video cards but also enables working with non-NVIDIA / ATI single head and dual head cards using its Safe video mode.
Refer to the following links for information about major NVIDIA brands:
GIGABYTE (PCI -E)
GIGABYTE (AGP )
MSI (PCI -E)
MSI (AGP )
**ATI video cards can support up to 4 workstations in native mode.
SoftXpand may be installed on PCs that contain motherboards and video cards that are compatible with the technology of SLI by NVIDIA or the technology of CrossFire by ATI.
However, SoftXpand does not support the use of these technologies.
The use of these technologies with SoftXpand may cause the system to become unstable.
Symptom:
After installing and activating SoftXpand, when trying to start it, you may experience a blue screen or a computer freeze/hang situation.
Cause:
Because of the computer's hardware being configured to work with SLI/CroosFire and the startup of SoftXpand, the Windows XP boot process hangs/stops before being able to display the logon dialog box.
Resolution:
- Start the computer in Safe mode (A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP) and remove SoftXpand.
- Restart the computer.
- Enter the computer's BIOS (BIOS from A to Z) and disable all of SLI/CrossFire definitions.
- Reinstall SoftXpand.
