This document will describe the procedure of upgrading SoftXpand from Ver.2 to Ver.3

Upgrade SoftXpand from Ver. 2.0 to Ver. 3.0:

1. Save the activation serial number and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for reactivation. The serial number can be found in the start menu at: Start -> Programs ->SoftXpand -> Activation.
   Or in the registry at:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MiniFrame\SoftXpand\activation - SerNum.
   Note: there could be a case where the two above options will not display the activation serial number. This could occur when a computer has been cloned or updated and the activatedata.dll file has been restored manually by the system administrator. In this case please refer to your installation records to obtain the SoftXpand serial number.
2. Exit SoftXpand to Windows.
3. Remove SoftXpand.Use the: Start ->Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs, to uninstall the old version.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Open the device manager. Under display settings, make sure the ‘MiniFrame video display framebuffer driver’ has been removed (make sure it is not there).If it is still there please refer to the following KB for further information - Uninstall Ver.2 incomplete.
6. Uninstall the video cards driver and restart the computer.
7. Uninstall the USB chipset driver and restart the computer.
   Right click each and every USB device (in the device manager) and uninstall its driver.

   Note: For this stage it is advised to use a set of PS/2 keyboard and mouse so that you will not “freeze” your own set of USB keyboard and mouse by removing its driver.
8. Restart the computer.
9. Install the most up to date set of chipset (motherboard) drivers and restart the computer. Use up to date drivers of the manufacturer.

10. Install the most up to date driver for your model of video card and restart the computer.
11. Check that all of the devices attached are functioning properly on Windows (Keyboards, mice, sound devices, monitors).
12. Install SoftXpand 3.
