How to set the primary monitor in Windows XP How to set the primary monitor in Windows XP

This option is used to make sure the most approachable monitor (usually the one closest to the Host computer) is the primary monitor, i.e. – the monitor active during a Windows session (when SoftXpand is not running).

To set the primary monitor:

  1. Log on to Windows with an administrative user account and open the Windows Display Properties (as described in "Changing a SoftXpand Host's display settings in Windows" above).
  2. Select the Settings tab. If needed, click OK to dismiss the "Invalid Display Settings" message.
  3. Select the monitor designate to become the primary one. Turn on the selected monitor by checking the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box and then clicking on Apply.
  4. Make sure the correct monitor is active before checking the Use this device as the primary monitor check box.
  5. Click Apply or OK to switch the desktop to the newly-selected primary monitor.
