Workstations options

Remove balloon tip in the logon dialog

Enable / Disable the appearance of the balloon tip in the SoftXpand logon dialog.

When launching SoftXpand for the first time – it is recommended not to change this setting from its default. If for example, the settings were imported from another Host, it’s recommended to manually unselect this option so that the initial assignment of keyboards and mice will be as easy as possible.

Load desktop in Workstations

Enable / Disable the desktop to load fully on running Workstations upon logon of SoftXpand.

Note: In order to logoff a Workstation which its desktop is not loaded use the combination of Ctrl + Alt + Del keys to display the logoff dialog.

Allow to use screen savers in Workstations

Enable / Disable screen saver on SoftXpand Workstations.

If the Workstations are running in SAFE video mode it is recommended to disable screen saver in order not to overload the CPU.

This setting is off by default.

Note: since the default screen saver setting is set to ‘Off’, you might want to change this setting as part of the setup and deployment on site.

Disable Device notification dialog upon logon

Enable / Disable the device assignment instruction in each Workstation’s Welcome to SoftXpand dialog, indicating which Ctrl+Shift+F[#] will be used to assign the keyboard and mouse to it (# = a number digit).

By following the device assignment instruction, the keyboard and mouse gets re-assigned to the workstation upon each logon. This is an extra safety action to ensure device assignment to the Workstation.

Disable this option to skip the SoftXpand Welcome dialog and display the SoftXpand logon dialog only.

Disable manual start Workstation using Ctrl + Alt buttons combination

Enable / Disable the feature of manual starting a Workstation which is shutdown using the combination keys Ctrl + Alt.

You can manually start a Workstation which is shut down, using the Ctrl + Alt keys on a keyboard which is assigned to the shutdown Workstation.

Use this checkbox to disable this feature.

Enable Shutdown Workstation for all users

Enable / Disable the feature of shutting down the workstation from the workstation tray icon using the SoftXpand shutdown dialog.

By default, shutdown workstation is disabled. By enabling this feature the option of ‘Shutdown my workstation’ will be added to the SoftXpand shutdown dialog.

Workstation icon

Disable workstation icon for all users

Select this button to disable the appearance of the Workstation tray icon for all users.

Enable workstation icon to administrative users only

Select this button to enable the Workstation tray icon only for administrative users.

Enable workstation icon to all users

Select this button to enable the appearance of the Workstation tray icon for all users.

Device Notification Policy

Enable balloon tip notifications about the following devices: Keyboards, Mice, Audio devices

Selection of the peripheral devices to which a balloon tips notification will appear in case the selected devices are missing on a Workstation.

When SoftXpand is configured to automatically logon all users to their Workstations it is recommended to leave the notification balloon tip for keyboards and mice on.

Manual start Workstation keyboard shortcut keys:

Use this combination of keyboard keys to start a workstation which was previously shut down. The keyboard combination specified is informative and cannot be changed. Use the combination on a keyboard which is assigned to the shut down workstation, in order to manually start it.
